The Plan

This is a monumental time in our history. It is our responsibility to ensure that ESD’s legacy of excellence established by our founders continues.

Together, we will make this our "Defining Decade."

Strategic planning is an evergreen and intrinsic process at ESD.  We are currently in the second five-year cycle of a ten-year plan, ESD Tomorrow.

The ESD Tomorrow strategic plan is the culmination of extensive work conducted by a 17-member study group comprised of board members, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff. The plan was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors in April 2012 with the sole purpose of advancing our Mission and Founding Tenets through a “reengineering” of ESD’s core business of learning and teaching. 

The goal of ESD’s ten-year strategic plan is to develop and implement programs that will give our students the tools and thinking processes required to meet and exceed the challenges of our rapidly changing and interconnected world. As we continue this journey together, be assured that ESD’s Mission, Founding Tenets, and Episcopal Identity remain central to all that we do.

Yes, ESD is evolving. The success of our students in today’s complex, global world demands it. What remains steadfast in our strategic plan are the values and traditions of the ESD experience – daily chapel, the whole-child approach to education, experiences in the outdoors, and service to others. ESD Tomorrow will simply make our great school even greater. 

ESD Tomorrow encompasses five key initiatives: Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Exemplary Students and Staff, Sustainability, Brand Integrity, and Episcopal Identity.
